Despite the name, buckwheat groats are not actually a grain, but a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb. Organic buckwheat has a distinctive nutty flavour and can be cooked and served in a similar way to rice. Buckwheat is rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and is a natural source of protein. No GMO. Preservative and additive free.
HOW TO USE
Organic hulled buckwheat is extremely versatile and can be cooked and served whole or ground into a flour. Buckwheat is often used to make crackers, bread and noodles. It is also a great substitute for rice and porridge. Before cooking, buckwheat must be thoroughly rinsed under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Add one-part buckwheat to two parts water or broth. Bring to the boil then reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes.
